Maybe feeling my age a bit with this calf strain lingering, but it is improving steadily, so I'm content to still ride it out with continued training.
Monday
Muay Thai class
This was a boxing day, and since I partnered with some ambulatory dead weight who kept just standing in place and having me repeat the drills constantly when they were holding pads, it was a tougher workout than usual. I definitely wore down towards the end, but considering I was also dealing with some nasal congestion that got in the way of breathing easily, I'll take that as a minor win.
Tuesday
Muay Thai class
This was a more typical class. It was focused on kick stamina, but since I was in a trio, that took off some of the pressure on that front. Ultimately, it was a class.
Wednesday
Muay Thai class
Attendance was high this day, so the kru decided to have us do a big drill station gauntlet rotation for pretty much the whole class. It was twelve stations of padwork drills, if I counted correctly, plus three stations of freestyle bagwork. The kru even jumped in to hold pads at one station, so I got the rare opportunity to work with her (since she usually prioritizes helping the competitive fighters). That's always a treat, since she understands how to dictate pace as padholder, and she also helped me adjust my spacing awareness to land my shin more effectively on my lead leg round kicks.
Thursday
Muay Thai class
In a flip from the previous day, this class had low attendance, with the competitive fighters sparring at another gym, so we did a grab-bag of some less typical drills. This was the best my calf had felt since straining it, so I was finally feeling good enough to get drive hard consistently on my punches again. Nothing too fancy or remarkable, but a good class.
