Workout Recap - Week of August 4, 2024

This was a short week, since there was a holiday on Monday and the gym was closed from Friday through Sunday due to some flooding from severe rain. I know I could've done some home workouts to make up for it, but I felt like I deserved a chance for some recovery time. Next week is likely also going to be short, since there's a good chance I'll miss a class during the week for personal reasons.

Tuesday

Muay Thai class

This was an interesting class of doing a few punches into multiple leg attacks. It would've likely been a stamina-drainer, but I was working in a trio, so I was able to keep up just fine. It also felt like my balance was unusually good this day; hopefully a trend that continues, but even if not, it's a promise of where I can be as I continue to get better.

Wednesday

Muay Thai class

This was another class that should've been a stamina-drainer but failed on that front for me due to working in a trio. It is further annoying to be the loser who nobody wants to partner with because it means I often get stuck the people who don't really want to be there, which was the case for one of my partners this day, too. Oh well, all I can really do about that is minimize my frustration by not putting much effort into helping them so that I can concentrate on my own progress. It's selfish, but I don't care about being selfish in response to someone else's selfishness.

Thursday

Muay Thai class

This was a boxing and knee strike class, which nicely made up for the annoyances of the previous day. As well, I was back to working in a pair, and my stamina was once again too much for my partner to keep up with, so it's good to have that sign that the easier classes this week didn't hurt me too much on that front. Incidentally, the way they were holding the pads for my knee strikes happened to make them feel like aiming for the groin instead of the midsection; I'm fine with that, since it is a reasonable alternative target in a real fight, so it's good to get in some practice making that adjustment.
