Between holiday disruptions and some medical matters with my cat, I didn't do any training during last week, so I wasn't in a rush to get this out before things resumed. I am expecting more disruptions from New Year's Day, but at least I am back to cracking some leather again while I can in the mean time.
Monday
Muay Thai class
The guest kru had us working on hitting different levels with round kicks, mixed with different initiation techniques. It got a bit silly eventually, but it was practical to start, and the longer stuff was at least a decent stamina test. I was working in a trio with a pair of experienced people I hadn't partnered with before who confused me at times with their improvisations, but I think I adapted well to it overall, and I was better at keeping on track during the longer drills than either of them, so all in all, I think I held my own decently.
Tuesday
Muay Thai class
This was a boxing day. My brain was somewhat out of phase with reality, and past medical issues were acting up in my shoulders, so it wasn't my best performance by any account, but I did what I could. Sometimes, that's all there is to it.
Thursday
Muay Thai class
This was a general basics day, as things were winding down for the year. I partnered with a newbie who I hadn't worked with before, and they were a good student, so I had a good time.
Saturday
Muay Thai class
A little weekend stamina-burner to cook off some holiday calories. The kru shuffled me around a few times as I was used to fill out with late arrivals, but it was a fairly good session, all told. One of the competitive fighters complimented me on having very efficient form on my lead hook punches, which was nice to hear.
