This week was a week.
Monday
Muay Thai class (x2)
The guest kru had us do back-and-forth defense drills this day, in a nice break from his usual routines. It was all pretty nice stuff built around kick defense, and I got to do a few rounds with some competitive fighters who had good advice for me. The second class was the return of stamina-burn Monday, with me partnering up with an experienced competitive fighter coming back from some time away. I was dead-ass exhausted by the end of it, though my partner was complimentary of me pushing through obvious fatigue and continuing to throw bones all the way to the end.
Tuesday
Muay Thai class
The kru was away for personal reasons, so the substitute coach for the day had us do a bunch of fundamentals review. I had been wanting to focus on cleaning on some technical rough spots anyway, so it worked out well for me. A basic class, but a useful one nonetheless.
Wednesday
Muay Thai class (x2)
The guest kru focused on clinchwork this time, working on getting good position to set up meaningful knee and elbow strikes. It was honestly a pleasant surprise that the guest kru had us doing good knees strikes instead of the usual side-slap bullshit that happens in amateur fights. One of the competitive fighters also complimented me on having good body control to throw dangerous-looking elbow strikes without over-committing, which was cool to hear. The second class continued with clinching, this time working on fighting for advantageous position with the usual mix of swimming and/or posting on the other person's face. I always like this sort of thing, since it's good to practice being comfortable with pushing through being uncomfortable.
Thursday
Muay Thai class
This was a boxing class. It had a bit of a sprinkling of different things, with a general soft emphasis on pushing volume for stamina development. My calves were burning by the end, which I'm taking as a sign of good leg engagement.
