Workout Recap - Week of March 29, 2026

Catching up on the recaps that I've missed lately, part two.

Monday

Muay Thai class + Boxing class

The guest kru ran a class about building up piece by piece from a simple start into a long sequence including defense and countering. It was reasonable all in all, though he got rather "one true way" about explaining certain things, but I can understand that as a simple and clear starting point for some of the newer people to work from. The main kru ran the boxing class afterwards, with a lot of work on jab endurance and head movement. Both of those are definitely areas I could improve at (my lead shoulder tends to wear out relatively quickly, likely due to my medical history), so this was a fortuitous day to start doubling up again.

Tuesday

Muay Thai class + Boxing class

The first class worked on chaining knee strikes into kicks. I always like working with knees, and this was an interesting way to do something a little different from usual with them. The boxing class was a mix of fundamental punches and footwork drills. I got to partner for the first part with one of the competitive fighters who's been here longer than I have, which I haven't gotten to do much over the years, likely because they're a lot better than I am at everything, so that was a nice treat to offset the grind of getting reacclimated to double-classing.

Wednesday

Muay Thai class + Boxing class

The guest kru ran a head-to-head, back-and-forth defense class this day. It was mostly basic stuff, but that's never bad, in my estimation, so I'd call it a fine class overall. The boxing class was even more head-to-head work, which was also enjoyable. I also seemed to be doing with my endurance holding up through both classes, though that might partly be because what we were doing made other people wear out faster than I did.

Thursday

Muay Thai class + Boxing class

The first class focused on kick endurance, with lots of round and front kicks, plus a splash of reaction training. I think I held up alright for it despite my high workload this week. The boxing class ended up being just me and one other person (who hadn't attended any of the boxing earlier this week), with the kru joking that everyone else had been scared off by getting beaten too much in the previous day. It was a tough grind to finish the week, and I definitely felt myself slowing as the class went on, but it felt good to face that and deal with it, and I should only get better at doing that with more practice.
