Workout Recap - Week of March 8, 2026

I feel like I somehow have a lot and nothing going on at the same time lately. I am reminded of the song DOS by Ayria.

Monday

Muay Thai class

This class was about setting up round kicks. It was pretty fundamental stuff, but as usual, I'm always fine with working on that. Nothing fancy, but I'll take practical and effective over annoying chaff any day. The kru also said I was doing well, which I'm trying to just take as a compliment.

Tuesday

Muay Thai class

This class focused on front kick defense and countering. It was good stuff, aside from the usual annoyance of doing some work at some point with a partner who had long toenails that ended up scratching my forearm. Still, in the greater scheme, that's a trivial price.

Wednesday

Muay Thai class

The guest kru taught a class focused on head-to-head back-and-forth round kick defense and countering. It was probably one of the best classes he's run at this gym, from my perspective. We got in a fair amount of good work, and there was one drill that worked best when people were in the same stance for which I was partnered with a lefty, so I got some extra practice in my switched stance for that reason.

Thursday

Muay Thai class

This class was a big ol' twelve-spot drill station gauntlet rotation. It was very tiring, obviously, but I was surprised at how well I was able to last. My arms were dead by the last few spots, but my legs still had enough that I was getting knockback with alternating front kicks on a significantly larger partner in the next-to-last station. Overall, an encouraging performance.
