I remain discombobulated.
Monday
Muay Thai double class
The guest kru had us working on low kick defense and counters. It started out quite practical, by his standards, though it did stretch on and on to the point of feeling more useful for keeping up good technique through fatigue than for real use. That's still a good thing to work on, though, so I've got no real complaints. I was also just glad to be back to training after a break.
Tuesday
Muay Thai class
This was a head-to-head back-and-forth defense practice day. It was mostly just basic punches and kicks to help train up some newbies, but it was good to hit some people again, and I got in a round towards the end with one of the competitive fighters where we had some fun ramping up the intensity. We finished up with a few rounds of padwork to unwink and rip some kicks without concern of hitting someone else's knee. My padwork partner said that they always end up with sore forearms after holding for my round kicks, which I'm pretty sure was meant as a bit of stealth mockery, but I'm not oblivious to that just because I don't bother to call it out directly.
Wednesday
Muay Thai class
The guest kru took the lead again, with another surprisingly practical class. Nothing groundbreaking, just offense>defense>counter drills, but it was good stuff.
Thursday
Muay Thai class
It seems to be a pattern now to have boxing days on Thursdays, which I'm game for, since punching is always there. We started out with a seven-spot drill station gauntlet rotation, for a nice mix of skills and stamina-conditioning emphasis. Then we followed up with several drills breaking down basics for some newbies, which is always a nice review time. Just another solid training session, overall.
