Workout Recap - Week of November 24, 2024
The kru basically said double-classed were done for the year since the fighters are all going into maintenance mode in preparation for the next major competitive event in March, so I'll have to wait for the new year to bump my training up again on that front. A little disappointing, but on the other hand, one of the fighters here is also going to be starting teaching some jiu-jitsu classes in January, so that could be a chance to get some more work on my grappling again.
Monday
Muay Thai class
This was a stamina class, courtesy of working on multiple kick sequences. It was pretty basic overall, but physical conditioning is always good to improve, and the stuff we did was practical for live use, too. We even mixed in some front kick defense and countering, for a bit of extra flavor. All in all, I had fun.

Muay Thai class
Head-to-head defense drilling is always welcome for me. We did a few basic exchange drills to get into some flow, followed by several rounds of light sparring. My goal for those was to incorporate some lateral movement during my offense at least three times per round, which I think I succeeded at. The question mark in my mind was doing my last round with a much better fighter, and I honestly forgot about my goal as I got caught up in the thrill of seemingly having narrowed the skill gap between us (though it's hard to be certain since it could be that my stamina was holding up better than theirs, but that's also a skill from a certain perspective, so I'm probably being too hard on myself).
Wednesday
Muay Thai class
This was a strictly-boxing class. It was tiring, since we did long sequences with defense mixed in, but that's a good sort of tiring, in my mind. I definitely slowed down as the class went on, but I was keeping up my body mechanics and seemed to be cracking the pads as loudly as anyone else from start to finish. I was a little disappointed that we didn't mix in any elbows or knees, since the kru will often sprinkle those in during boxes classes, but I still enjoyed what we did.

Muay Thai class
This was a padwork class, and I honestly was somewhat on autopilot for it because my brain wasn't being cooperative this day. That said, I think I had a good baseline to autopilot from (and the kru was complimentary towards me every time that she came around, to help back up that impression), which is a positive sign. Not much else to say about it, though.
