I really do want to get back to doing more with that Ironsworn Actual Play series, but I somehow keep getting distracted by other things, even after I did start on the next session. I want to make it happen again this week, because I do want to play more with Quinn, but sometimes, the brain does not cooperate.
Monday
Muay Thai class
We did head-to-head back-and-forth defense drills with the guest kru. That's always fun stuff, though it's a little odd to me that he encourages just taking round kicks in strange ways. Even where that can be reasonable for low kicks, for instance, he suggests taking them on the hamstrings instead of on the quads. I can understand doing that sometimes for impact conditioning, but doing it all the time seems like it would risk developing bad habits in people who're still learning. It was otherwise good and practical stuff, though.
Tuesday
Muay Thai class
This was another head-to-head back-and-forth defense day, as a welcome treat. This time, it was mostly a mix of more practical drills using different weapons at different levels. We finished up with some freestyle exchange rounds, as a nice little testing ground. I noticed that I kept messing up my front kick parries by using the wrong hand when I was partnered with a left-handed person for one of those, which was an interesting rough spot to discover.
Wednesday
Muay Thai class
The guest kru was back for more low kick defense practice, in padwork this time. There was nothing especially notable about it, but as ever, it's a good thing to train.
Thursday
Muay Thai class
This was another day of padwork practice for defense>counter drills. It's been cool to do a bunch of that this week.
