Another five-day week. Good stuff.
Monday
Muay Thai class
This was a fundamentals day, pretty much focused on just straight punches and rear round kicks. It wasn't anything fancy, but it was good, clean work.
Tuesday
Muay Thai class
The guest kru was leading this class again, but he seemed to have adjusted his format to be more similar to how the main kru structures her classes. I think that's a bit of a shame, since I thought the difference was good for developing more robustness, but it's honestly not that big of a deal either way. In any case, this was a knee strike-focused class with some secondary emphasis on elbow strikes. It was fun and practical stuff, so I've got no real complaints.
Wednesday
Muay Thai class
This was a boxing day. I worked in a trio with a couple of newer people, one of whom was having basically their first class, so I was in teaching mode more than usual, trying to help them get comfortable with stringing different punches together. I always appreciate that as a different way to test my understanding, and they both seemed to be receptive to advice. A good time overall.
Thursday
Muay Thai class
This was a general fitness class. We started with some repeated kicks, then did a bunch of calisthenics, and then finished with a different bunch of knee strike-focused drills. I was fine with the calisthenics, and I like knees, so I was having a good time with it all. It also felt cool to have the kru call me out as an experienced person who she appreciates working frequently with different people, including newbies. It's mostly something that I do as a consequence of typically having to choose from whoever is left over after people with preferences have paired up, but I try to make the most of it.
Saturday
Muay Thai class
I had another free Saturday morning, though with this apparently being a low attendance day (just two other people there to train at the same time), the kru left us to do whatever we wanted for padwork. We ended up doing a mix of drills with a soft emphasis on knee strikes (potentially set by me making them a feature in the first round). I had a good time with it, and it was also a good time wrapping up by having each of us call out the rep count for one part of the finishing calisthenics. Overall, it was a nice way to get in some work that was different from usual.
