Alignment Embodiments

February 15, 2020

Over on Monsters and Manuals, noisms has prompted people to take part in another iteration of the old navel-gazing exercise from the end of the 1970s: picking examples of characters to represent each of the nine alignments from AD&D.  That's something that I haven't done before around here, so why not give it a whirl.  As an added challenge for myself, I'm going to stick with characters created after 1979 (the year the AD&D DMG was released), ruling out common choices like Luke Skywalker, Robin Hood, Judge Dredd, or the Joker, and I'll limit myself to no more than two characters from the same franchise.

Lawful Good: Alex Murphy, from RoboCop

Lawful Neutral: Magos Darioq, from the Word Bearers novels

Lawful Evil: Alejandro Sosa, from Scarface (1983)

Neutral Good: Kamille Bidan, from Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam

True Neutral: Ciaphas Cain, from the Ciaphas Cain novels

Neutral Evil: Paptimus Scirocco, from Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam

Chaotic Good: Vash the Stampede, from Trigun

Chaotic Neutral: Raven, from the Black Company novels (specifically The Black Company and Shadows Linger)

Chaotic Evil: The Limper, from the Black Company novels
