And finishing catching up. Monday Muay Thai class This class was a head-to-head back-and-forth defense class, which are always welcome from my perspective, since it's never not nice to get some practice hitting other humans. I had a fun time with it, and finishing up with some freestyle boxing exchanges was a fine capstone. Tuesday Muay Thai class This class focused on boxing offense and slipping. Granted, we fit in some kicks as well, but the hands and head movement we

I slipped on posting this on time again. Oh well. Monday Muay Thai class This class was a stamina-grinder built around round kicks. The workload felt a bit lighter than usual, for some reason, but maybe that was just in my head. In any case, I felt good about how I did. Tuesday Muay Thai class This was an offense>defense>counter class. We ended up building towards more complex drills than usual, which made for a nice mental challenge to keep everything on track. I th

It was a big competitive event last weekend. I didn't compete, of course, since I have no real interest in that, but I felt like mentioning it would be good filler for this intro part. Monday Muay Thai class This was a statutory holiday in Ontario, so we celebrated with some stamina-grinding. Since the holiday threw off typical attendance, I got to part with one of the competitive fighters who I don't work with much anymore. We had a good time mixing in a little freestyl

Roughly on time with this one, at least. Monday Muay Thai class This class worked on some less common follow-ups to boxing openers, going into either elbow strikes or front kicks. It was also nice as a subtle way of training different range adjustments after initiating. I had a good time with it. Tuesday Muay Thai class This class started out with some light freestyle back-and-forth. Some people decided to interpret that as light sparring, which caused me some confusio

Late again, alas. Monday Muay Thai class This was another stamina-focused Monday class. I have nothing too notable to say about it otherwise. It wasn't the class; it's me. This will be a trend. Tuesday Muay Thai class This was a boxing class. We focused on short, practical sequences. I felt pretty solid about it overall, which was to be expected because I think my kicks are what I'm worst at anyway. Wednesday Muay Thai class This class focused specifically on lead

Late posting this one. I've been in a bit of a funk. Monday Muay Thai class This was a simple grinder class to get some work in after a big snowstorm over the weekend. I think I kept up well and had a fairly solid performance overall. It also seemed like I had my partner regret holding pads for my low kicks by the end, which always feels good. Overall, an unremarkable but generally fine session. Tuesday Muay Thai class This class was a basic kick review, with some pun

The snow persists, and so do I. Monday Muay Thai class This was a boxing day, with some knee strikes mixed in towards the end. Since there has been a little surge of beginners lately, we kept things simple, working mostly on straight punches as an opportunity to really dial in on form and spacing. It was a good fundamental review. Tuesday Muay Thai class This class continued with the theme of reviewing basics, though leaning more on weaving together offense and defense

No training on Thursday because the gym was closed due to bad weather, and I did enough unrecorded exercise digging out of the snow for a couple of hours to not want an official workout of the day on top. Monday Muay Thai class This was a fundamentals review class, as a fine excuse to fire up the fight camp polish for competitions coming up next month while also helping newer people get up to speed. Speaking of which, I was working in a trio with an experienced person and

As previous. Monday Muay Thai class The guest kru was running a fundamentals class. We worked on a few different ways of stringing together some basic strikes, for a pretty fine review to kick off the new year. I was a little shaky early on from the holiday breaks, but I seemed to get back into it decently enough by the class's end. Tuesday Muay Thai class This class focused on front kick offense and defense. It's always nice to work on initiation tools that aren't jab

Been behind on these from prioritizing my cat's welfare. I have no regrets. Monday Muay Thai class This was a knee- and elbow-focused class. My footwork on my switch knees was a touch rusty at first, but it cleaned up swiftly enough with a few reps. Naturally, it was a fun time. We finished up with some high volume of alternating knees and round kicks, for which I was quite pleased at how well I was able to keep up. I always worry about losing some stamina whenever I h
