Workout Recap - Week of May 26, 2019
Wix is doing some weird stuff with their editor interface, thus why this post is delayed (and why there may be some other oddities on my site in the immediate future). It wasn't a big loss for this recap to be delayed, though, since I had a rather tumultuous week that made it hard find motivation for much of anything. Put simply, it sucked. I'll recover and get things back on track, but this was basically a week to be forgotten. Sunday Type: Pass/Fail Cross Plank - 1 set of
Workout Recap - Week of May 19, 2019
This was a week of minor regression, frankly. With one exception, the workouts all ended up feeling like I could've done better, and that one exception was just maintaining a plateau. Thus, all told, it was disappointing. On the plus side, I had some great coconuts to eat afterwards. Sunday Type: Pass/Fail Cross Plank - 2 sets of 20 breath isometric holds, each side (pass) T&A Pull Ups - 2 sets of 7, each side (pass) Pistol Squats, both hands behind me - 2 sets of 8, each
Workout Recap - Week of May 12, 2019
Lately, I've found myself thinking a lot about the separation of art from the artist. I may expand on why in a future post, but I think the point is an interesting one in itself. I am openly and unabashedly a fan of H.P. Lovecraft. He was an absolute genius as an author. He was also a racist and an anti-Semite. I know that the latter statement puts some people off from being able to enjoy his works. Personally, I don't have a problem with it (as I'll come back to a littl
Workout Recap - Week of May 5, 2019
If last week was one of great highs, this week was one of feeling one step behind the whole time. Something seemed to catch me on the back foot each day, so the end result is that I did five workouts yet didn't really feel like I did a single complete workout. Alas, but as ever, the only path is to forge onward. Sunday Type: Pass/Fail One-armed Push Ups, feet together - 1 set of 12, each side (pass) Uneven Pull Ups - 1 set of 10, each side (pass) Pistol Squats, both hands b
Workout Recap - Week of April 28, 2019
This was an exciting week for me. I hit a couple of aggressive performance targets at work near the start of the week. I made arrangements to start up a lunchtime TTRPG group (with a couple of new players, so it may flame out quickly if the actual thing doesn't turn out to suit them, but I always go into those situations with hope). I finished up transcribing the full spell list from the AD&D 2nd Edition player's handbook into my retroclone document. I had a strong perfor
Workout Recap - Week of April 21, 2019
I have no idea where this week went. It felt like it just passed in a flash, and my mind has just been all over the place. It probably didn't help matters that I had the cross-referencing in my native file for my TTRPG blow up last night, so I spent most of this morning combing through it to fix the links one by one. On a better note, though, I've really been enjoying the Conan stories. It feels like it's been a long time since I read something for pleasure that I actually
Workout Recap - Week of April 14, 2019
On the plus side, I kept my commitment to make up for getting out of cycle on my weekend challenges. On the minus side, my quads wish to die at the moment, and they aren't going to be granted their wish. I find myself reminded of the fact that I don't think I've ever had a massage that didn't come courtesy of either my own hands or rolling on top of an inanimate object. I make do with what I've got, of course, but I could sure go for some third-party squeezing at the momen
Workout Recap - Week of April 7, 2019
I started the week intent on a deluxe double-challenge, only to have my plans dashed by a surprisingly social end to the week. Fortunately, with the Good Friday holiday being this week, I'll have a lighter load in the immediate future, which I can use to make up for that. Sunday Type: As Fast As Possible 7 sets of: 7 Pull Ups 7 Burpees Time = 8:00 Bonus: 1 pull up, 1 burpee This was pretty much a steady time with what I achieved the last time that I did this challenge. As s
Workout Recap - Week of March 31, 2019
Things have a way of just blowing sometimes, don't they? Long story short, I got too caught up in other things to get my challenge workout in this week. Alas, but it's not the worst thing in the world to resign myself to a four-workout week, and I can do a Sunday/Saturday deluxe double-challenge next week to make up for it. Sunday Type: Pass/Fail One-armed Push Ups, feet together - 2 sets of 9, each side (pass) T&A Pull Ups - 2 sets of 6, each side (pass) Pistol Squats, bot
Workout Recap - Week of March 24, 2019
I blew my load on navel-gazing for today with the earlier post on musing about the greater implications of dice probability distributions, so I'll keep the introduction most succinct for this workout recap. It was a pretty solid week overall, although my ass is burning from the last couple days of it (even prior to the pistol squats that I just did for today's workout). All in all, I'm happy with how it turned out. Sunday Type: Pass/Fail One-armed Push Ups, feet together -
