Workout Recap - Week of January 14, 2018

The post dearth continues, but as I said last week, there are reasons for that'll become evident in the near future. Trust me on this.

In the mean time, it was only a four workout week. I was intending to go for a regular workload, but something came up on Friday that was more of a priority. All things in balance.

Sunday

Type: Pass/Fail

Shoulder-width Handstand Push Ups - 2 sets of 8 (pass)

T&A Pull Ups - 2 sets of 5, each side (pass)

Shrimp Squats - 2 sets of 5, each side (pass)

Bonus: 2 sets of 3 Superman push ups, 5 breath one-armed dead hangs (each side)

Since I was bouncing back from a close call with becoming sick, I scaled back the load on this workout. No sense in risking pushing myself too hard when I know that I'm not 100%.

Tuesday

Type: As Fast As Possible

10 sets of:

5 Pull Ups

10 Push Ups

15 Prisoner Squats

Time = 11:15

Bonus: 3 shoulder-width handstand push ups

This was meant to be a straightforward endurance test to check where my stamina was at. As you can see, the time was a step back from what I'd been able to achieve in the past, but it wasn't so horrible that I had to keep worrying about it.

Wednesday

Type: Pass/Fail

1-Armed Push Ups, Feet Together - 2 sets of 8, each side (pass)

Stand-to-stand Bridges (with one touch of a wall on the way up) - 2 sets of 8 (pass)

Hanging V-raises - 2 sets of 11 (pass)

Bonus: 4 sets of 3 two-way suicide jumps, 7 burpees

Having regained confidence in myself from the previous day's workout, I pretty much went right back to where I was with these movements before. I felt pretty good while doing it, too, which is always nice. Foreshadowing!

Saturday

Type: As Fast As Possible

6 sets of:

6 Pull Ups

6 Burpees

6 Bridges

Time = 6:45

Bonus: 10 bridges

Just a week removed from cutting my weekend challenge in half, here I am, tying my personal record for this challenge. I'll take that as pretty clear proof that I've recovered. On a side note, I'm not sure if it's confirmation bias or real, but it seems like my best performances on my weekend challenges of late have come when I didn't think about trying to do well and just focused on getting through the workout. Regardless of whether there's any truth to that, I think it might be worthwhile to focus on the process and let the results turn out as they may, rather than putting pressure on myself to always do better.
